I know, because of the comments from last week, that many of you enjoy reading…
Ten on Tuesday
It’s another fun topic for this week’s Ten on Tuesday – Ten Songs You’re Embarrassed To Like. Writing my list will be fun but what I’m really looking forward to is reading all of your lists!
- I Won’t Do That by Meatloaf. Oh hell, anything by Meatloaf. Even Paradise by the Dashboard Light is a freaking disaster.
- Can’t Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon. This is probably my most embarrassing confession of the list but I really do love this song. Pathetic, I know.
- Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus. This was a big hit when I first started dating Dale and I’m ashamed to admit that I tried to convince him to learn the line dance and teach it to the fans of Dale and the Duds. Let me say it right here: I’m sorry, honey.
- Cotton Eye Joe by Rednex. Perhaps I have a line dance problem?
- My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. Yeah, I really do like this one and I can’t believe I’m admitting it.
- And while we’re admitting to liking Celine Dion songs how about It’s All Coming Back to Me and Because You Loved Me. Sheesh.
- Ultimate by Lindsay Lohan. It was from the movie Freaky Friday and I loved the movie and somehow wound up liking the song, too.
- The Boy I’m Gonna Marry by Darlene Love. Bring on the Phil Spector wall of sound!
- Tired of Toein’ The Line by Rocky Burnette. This one is on here just for Dale – it’s his favorite and it is total bubble gum music.
- And finally, let’s end this on a truly spectacular, horrible note: Hero by Enrique Iglesias
And now I will just say: you are welcome for all the ear worms!

I had a couple REO Speedwagon albums. “Take it on the run, baby…” Yeah, I loved it. Also *glances right, left* anything Barry Manilow or John Denver OR Dan Fogelberg. The shame…
‘I want to put on my boogie shoes” by KC and the Sunshine Band.
Too funny. I can’t possibly publish such a list – I’d lose all credibility, because I’ve started secretly liking some of my 12-year-old’s awful music. Black Eyed Peas, anyone?
No earworms here…I have no idea what the songs sound like.
Have to admit, I giggled a little bit on some … but I shouldn’t have, ’cause I like most of those songs, too! And hey, ‘Hero’ by Enrique Iglesias was my (2nd) wedding song!!! Followed quickly by ‘In the Mood’ for a swing dance!
Happily, I recognized almost none of those songs. Hopped over to YouTube to check out Paradise by the Dashboard Light — disaster, indeed!
Paradise was my anthem growing up! The whole album was! C’mon!
You’re a brave woman to admit to those. I’m remaining silent on the topic. 🙂
what a funny funny post! (and even funnier is that Margene knew none of them! hah!)
Seriously, Celine Dion .I own one of her CD’s. How about Journey “Don’t stop believing” great to belt out in the car
I cannot believe that Margene knew none of them. How could anyone escape Paradise? especially now that Meatloaf is doing commercial. Ugh!
I’m with you on #7. I actually liked a bunch of music from that movie.
I’m with you on 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 and 10. And giving the other four a pass only because I don’t know them.
At my babysitter’s wedding I was one of about half a dozen women dancing in a circle to Paradise. You shoulda heard us nail “STOP RIGHT THERE!” in perfect unison. Heartwarming, it was. (Well, my daughter and one other youngster weren’t singing because they didn’t know the words… but two out of three ain’t bad.)
Who are you?! And where’ my Carole?! o.O
LOL – a line dancing problem. My list reflects a disco problem. 🙂
The whole CD from “Saturday Night Fever!” OOHH those Bee Gees and Tavares–can they sing!
Oh, I love Meatloaf! I admit it – Paradise by the dashboard light is just fun!
ah yes, the line dance era. I’m ashamed to admit that I actually took a class in the mid-90’s ;o)
