Happy Patriot’s Day

White Blossoms resized for blog

It’s Patriot’s Day here in Massachusetts (and Maine) and that means a day off for both Dale and I. While he is going to march with his Civil War buddies in the Lexington parade, I am taking the kids out for shopping and lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. I can’t help but wonder which one of us is being more American. Heh.

Hope you all have a great day!

  1. When I was a freshman in high school I lived in Lexington and had to march with the band at dawn for the Patriot’s Day parade. That really made April 19th stick in my memory.

  2. My kids are feeling better, and I’m planning to take them to some of the Historic Society’s events later this morning. Missed the marchers, but that’s because everyone slept past 7 this morning, so I’m not too sad.

  3. Enjoy your day! We used to have “Statehood Day” here in Ohio, but either they did away with it or no one pays attention to it. When I worked for the state, it was a holiday, but not so for anyone else.

  4. Happy Patriot’s Day! Sounds like you will both being having fun!

I”ll be planting cold weather crops in my garden. 🙂

I have to return DD to Boston and will wait until much later in the day or I’ll be faced with crowds and road closures I’m sure. Wish me luck!

  5. I was trying to figure out what holiday I was forgetting when you mentioned you had a long weekend. Have a great day and enjoy the Rainforest Cafe! Go hungry.

  6. We here in the territories are at our desks on this fine day… have a wonderful time! You can’t go wrong with shopping and lunch!

  7. I didn’t know Rainforest was still open! I think I will put that on the list for later on in the week when I’m on vacation. Thanks for the idea!

  8. Wish Dale and you could have seen the concert this last weekend!
The local re-enactment group lent us all the guys’ costumes, and then they attended the sunday performance in full uniform. It was awesome!
