Ten On Tuesday

Macro Gerbera Daisy blog size

The first official weekend of summer is almost upon us! And so, in honor of Memorial Day, this week’s 10 on Tuesday topic is 10 Favorite Cookout Foods.

  1. A nice juicy cheeseburger. Might as well start with the classic.
  2. And I can’t resist a good hot dog. I like Kayem because they snap when you bite ’em.
  3. Serve up that burger and dog with some potato salad. I like mine the old-fashioned way with potatoes, celery, a little onion, mayo and hard-boiled egg. Simple but delicious!
  4. Pioneer Woman’s Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Thingies. I cook them on the grill and they are absolutely delicious.
  5. Margaritas. By the bucket, please. Is a margarita a food? It is to me!
  6. Beer. There is nothing like an ice cold beer at a cookout.
  7. Kebabs. Chicken, beef or why not both?
  8. Grilled veggies. I love zucchini and summer squash on the grill!
  9. Three Bean Salad. I got a recipe from Cynthia ages ago and it’s wonderful.
  10. Ice cream. What would you do for a Klondike bar?

Writing this list made me hungry! I hope I get invited to a cookout this weekend!

  1. Of course Margaritas are food – they are even good for you since they have fruit in them. 🙂

I’m hungry now too and it’s only 6:30 in the morning!

  2. I just came back from a Mexican vacation, where I decided that margaritas and pina coladas are their own food group, close to fruits and vegetables but infinitely better…

I had no trouble getting my fruits and veggies… 🙂

  3. Shrimp. Butter, garlic, and shrimp. I always eat more than my share = in fact, my family has started counting how many tails I have compared to them. It’s shameful, really.

  4. Two thumbs up on the burger!!! After that…um….beer…kabobs…yay grilled veggies!!! I’d gladly reverse my digestive system so that I was once more NOT lactose intolerant for that Klondike Bar (fond, fond memories…). Other than that, my famous “grainy-beany salads” (Black Bean and Rice…Black Bean and Olive…Black Bean and Tomato…). Going to a cookout Monday afternoon, already planning the salads. I realized reading your list that I’m probably really not a big cookout person. LOL!

  5. Of course margaritas are a food … they’re in the “fun” group 😉 And those bacon-wrapped jalapeno thingies? OMG!! I’m soooo going to make those this summer 🙂 Thanks for making me hungry!

  6. Those “thingies” look good. We have a grill but, sadly, my husband refuses to eat anything off a grill – he suspects carcinogens. I, on the other hand, crave that overdone cheeseburger in the worst way. Potato salad – we can agree about potato salad!

  7. I’m with you on the potato salad, except that I put fresh chives and dill in mine. But I do not care for vinegar in potato salad, and do not even speak to me of Miracle Whip.

Lamb kebabs. Also shrimp and asparagus. (You skewer about ten asparagus stalks the short way, once near each end.)

  8. Great list. I think I’d enjoy your cook out a lot. I haven’t had three bean salad in ages. My mom used to make it but I never have. Care to share your recipe?
