Hello, friends! I'm joining with Kat today to talk about my knitting and reading. My…
Socks for Lois
Well, that was an unexpected blog break yesterday. Not to belabor the topic but let me just say – I went to bed Sunday night feeling absolutely fine and then woke up at 12:30am feeling nauseous. By 1am I was hurling and that went on every hour or so until 6am. I spent the day on Monday too sick to knit, to read, to go online or even sit upright. I had a wonderful night’s sleep on Monday night, though, and woke up feeling much better on Tuesday. I was still weak and lightheaded but compared to the way I felt on Monday it was a bit of a miracle. Thank you all for the concerned emails and healing thoughts sent my way, I am quite sure it helped.
Okay, enough about that, let’s talk about something more fun – a finished pair of socks!
These are a Christmas present for Lois and yes, I know that Christmas was almost 3 months ago. Lois is the queen of missing deadlines, though, and she understood completely when I gave her a gift certificate at Christmas that said I would knit her socks from the yarn of her choosing.
I think she made an excellent choice when she selected this Sophie’s Toes yarn in the color Table for Two. The greens are beautifully blended and this yarn is a pleasure to work with.
It’s so nice to knit a pair of socks for a friend; it’s a gift from the heart that will bring warmth and comfort for a long time.

Glad you are feeling better, The stomach bug is just awful.
The socks came out great! I’m sure Lois is loving them.
I think deadlines are highly over-rated! Glad you are feeling better.
So happy to hear you are feeling better. The stomach bug is awful!!
And it’s not the diet you are looking for! The socks are great!
Deadlines? We don’t need no stinkin’ deadlines. They’re more like guidelines. (Sorry for the mixed movie allusions. I’m in a mood 🙂 ) They are such pretty socks to enjoy while spring tries to figure herself out. It’s good to have you feeling better!
So glad you’re on the mend! And while I can’t speak for Lois, from a blog standpoint, the socks were definitely worth waiting for. Hope your week only improves. ;^)
Good to hear you’re feeling much more yourself. Socks are an always welcome gift and the color of yarn is very spring-like. Nice work!
In our family, that is known as “Lightning Flu.” And it is YUCK. Those socks, though, are wonderful! What a great gift. So glad you’re feeling better.
Sounds like the norovirus. I’ve had it several times and I tend to pass out when I have it; once I got a serious concussion. It’s important to replace electrolytes when you are experiencing this virus; I always have Emergen-C on hand. Glad you got through it and love the socks. It’s nice when variegate yarn behaves itself.
You have my sympathy. I had a night of “gastro” not long ago, and it made me so grateful for my usual level of health—-which I mostly take for granted.
Our family is the poster group for delayed gratification. My sister gave me the same wall hanging two years in a row. LOL. I love gifts of promissory notes.
Glad you’re feeling better!
So glad you’re feeling better. And I gotta say – only a die-hard blogger would take a picture of her soda crackers! You “crack” me up!
Happy to hear you are feeling better, the stomach bug is quite awful
Sorry you were so sick! Happy you’re feeling better now. The socks are lovely.
Glad you’re on the mend Carole. Those socks – beautiful! Such nice colors – lucky Lois.

love that yarn color! and i’m sure lois will love the socks 🙂
Happy you are feeling better! The socks are fantastic; so springy!
Glad that you are feeling better. That stomach thing kicked my butt too — it was awful! Love the socks and I bet Lois will love wearing them.
Happy you’re back on your feet. I got that on Valentine’s Day. The room wouldn’t stop spinning. The socks you knit from Sophie’s toes are always lovely. They are always bright pretty colors with good varigation. My family vists me in the summer and I always have socks for them. I tell them it’s Christmas in July.
Happy to hear that nasty bug is a thing of the past!
Your socks are lovely and so much spring it is wonderful.
Sorry I missed yesterday’s sick post–my knitting group came over last night and I went into cleaning frenzy (a good thing since the results are delightful to live with). So, you managed to feel beter without my help and that’s also a good thing! letting the recipient choose her yarn–what a great finesse for a late gift!
So glad you’re feeling better! Lois made a lovely choice of yarn, and you made it into a lovely pair of socks – definitely a ‘Table for Two’ kind of thing 😉
Glad you survived the bug! yuck. . VOmiting is so awful……I hate to.
Love your socks . I love giving socks…
I’ve made 4 1/2 pairs so far this year though…and I think I m getting bored….argh!
Glad you are feeling better, Carole! Flu is never fun 🙁
The socks are so pretty. Love the mix of colors there.
Love the socks. Glad you are feeling better.
Wonderful socks!
I hope you’re feeling like yourself by now.
Love the socks Carole and all the other goodies you have been showing (comments are closed); have not been on the net too much. I love the colour! I am not usually a ‘green’ person but they look like sea glass – gorgeous. And hey 3 months is better than no socks at all. Glad your flu is better (LOVED that post btw!).
