Ten On Tuesday

I’m back from our annual Cape Cod vacation and I’m already missing the beach. It’s such a wonderful place to spend the day but some people cough*Dale*cough don’t really like it. He’s a good sport and he goes with me anyway but I’m just flabbergasted that anyone could not love the beach. After all, there is so much to do there! Don’t believe me? Read on, then, because this week’s Ten on Tuesday topic is 10 Things To Do At the Beach.

  1.  Knit. I got a lot of sock knitting done last week.
  2. Read. I did not read at all but Hannah had her nose in a book all day, every day.
  3. Swim. Obviously.
  4. Walk. The sand is great for strengthening those leg muscles.
  5. Eavesdrop. We all do it, right?
  6. People watch. Oh the sights you’ll see!
  7. Snorkel. This is Dale’s favorite beach activity.
  8. Nap. Okay, maybe this is Dale’s favorite beach activity.
  9. Eat & drink. I’m a big fan of a tuna fish sandwich at the beach but on our last day there this year we brought wine and shrimp cocktail. I may never be satisfied with tuna again.
  10. Post on Facebook about being at the beach. Half the fun of being there is making your friends jealous.
The hardest part about this post was deciding which beach picture to include since that list practically wrote itself. I hope we all get another beach day or two or three in there before fall descends upon us.

  1. I love vacationing at the beach! Sand, sea, sunshine. And the wine and shrimp cocktail sound like the perfect icing on the cake. Mmmmm.

  2. I’m with dale. Not a fan of the beach especially in the summer. Sand gets everywhere. The sun hurts my eyes. I get burned. But I’m glad you enjoyed it.

  3. That is one beautiful picture. It could almost make me tolerate summer. #7, 8, 10 don’t do much for me. But the others sound WONDERFUL. I love eavesdropping. And walking. I like the way the sand fights back at your feet. And people watching. I always end up a little less critical of my body parts. I just prefer to do all this in the fall and spring…..

  4. My favorite beach vacay is on the Maine Coast in late October- early November…I’m not into swimming and can’t be in the sun, so strolling along in bare feet, jeans and a fisherman’s sweater is my #1-8. Then…add in knitting and reading on a beach house porch, in a hammock. Unfortunately, My Sweetheart thinks I’m totally nuts, and agrees with your list of beach activities! 🙂
    (((hugs)))

  5. If only I had anything to compare. The last time I was on the beach during warm weather was 1985. I love your FB posts even though they give me a case of the envies!

  6. I dream of living on the beach, I love it so much. I was happy for you to be there, but I confess, I was a little jealous reading your FB posts!

  7. I’ve lived at the beach but have never vacationed at the beach… not sure that I’d be very good at it! Hm, some of the things on your list sound interesting… perhaps I should try sometime. 😉

  8. It should have been 20 on Tuesday this week! I could add many of your items to my list!

Glad you had a great time. Your photo is beautiful!

  9. I’m a beach baby for sure! My dad lives on Lake Huron in the summer and we have a place 1/4 mile from the Atlantic in Florida where he spends the winter. We’re going down for a week next month and I can’t wait! Favorite activities include reading and collecting shells in Florida and rocks (Petoskey stones, fossils, agates) in Michigan.

  10. Oh, the beach is one of my favortie places in the whole wide world! I grew up in southern RI and Misquamicut beach was a slice of heaven as a kid. I’ve got a serious case of the ‘green-eyed monster’ after seeing your gorgeous picture.

  11. The water looks so inviting. Lucky you! Hey, and what about collecting pretty rocks and shells and building sand castles?

  12. ok, here’s a list with swimming on it! maybe the cape cod beach is better for that than the southern atlantic and gulf coast beaches I typically visit? but what really cracked me up was the part about posting on facebook…it’s so true about all those vacation updates that come in during the summer – just to make me jealous!!

  13. There is nothing I don’t enjoy on the beach. I can tolerate my daughters scwabbling, traffic, a bruised avocado for lunch, and forgetting to bring my pattern with my knitting. Hey. I’m at the beach, Baby. No worries allowed.
