Before our road trip, I cast on for a new Musselburgh hat. My grandson, Patrick…
Socks for Dale
What do you do to show your appreciation for someone you love? Specifically, for the guy in your life?
The guy who shovels the walk ways?
The guy who goes out in the cold and still manages to smile?
The guy who climbs a ladder and clears the ice dams?
Well. First you buy him a snow blower.
But then, if you’re a knitter, you knit him socks.
He may still have to go out there and clear the snow . . .
But at least his feet will be warm.
P.S. Details on my Ravelry page.

He’s a great guy and well deserving of those beautiful socks!
Dale is such a good egg! Great socks! I thought I recognized the colorway. Heh.
Gorgeous socks . . . for a Real Trooper! XO
I love the yarn. They look real warm and just perfect for Dale to do his outdoor duties!
I can’t get over how happy Dale looks while shoveling in the frigid cold; it must be because his feet are so warm and toasty!
Great looking socks!
I love how happy Dale looks in all the photos. 🙂
Ah, socks for the guy…..a mixed review here. Four pairs so far: three pair of heavy wool socks, one of them beautifully cabled, to wear with leather clogs (these are not beloved); and one pair of fine gray dress socks also with cables that took forever to knit and were well received. So, the good gray dress socks were promptly worn inappropriately, under boots, for a hike – and worn through on the backs of the heels the first day. I give up.
Dale looks like he’s in his element! You’re both using your skills to help get through the misery of winter.
Hmmm… I admit now to feeling a little guilty about Rudi’s pair of socks. I gave them to him last Christmas still on the needles, just in need of a bind off, and that’s where they still sit in their bag. Maybe I’ll finish them off tonight and hand them over a second time as a belated Valentine’s Day present…
He is truly a great guy…with a great wife!
He is a keeper! Such a sweet man!

Dale is most definitely knitworthy.
no words. just <3
What would we ever do without our heroes? Someone once asked me why I bothered to knit socks since they’re hidden and you can’t see them – and after all, you can buy them in a store. I said hand knit socks are like homemade bread for your feet! She didn’t get it…but knitters do! 🙂
I have to ask, which does Dale prefer — the snowblower or the socks? (He doesn’t have to answer.)
