Three On Thursday

Your mileage may vary but to me it felt like January just draggggged itself out longer than usual. I did my best with the hygge and the savoring but I can’t say I’m sorry to say goodbye to January. And that means HELLOOoooo to February! And here are three things I’m looking forward to this month.

  1. School vacation week. Dale is off and I’m planning on taking the week off as well. I don’t think we’ll be traveling anywhere but it means we don’t have to get up at o’dark thirty and hopefully we can get cracking on painting a room that we’ve been putting off for way too long. And by we I mean that I will do things like select paint colors and supervise while he does all of the actual, you know, work.
  2. SPA. It’s at the tail end of that vacation week and I’m so ready to go to Maine with friends. To hang out and spin (which I haven’t done since last SPA, I think), to knit and tell stories and laugh, to walk around Freeport and shop, to eat and drink and just do whatever we have a mind to do.
  3. New knitting projects. The first clue for the TTL Mystery Sock 2018 is released today and I’m planning on starting tomorrow. I’m also planning on joining Berroco Knit a Lopi sweater knit-a-long. I’ve narrowed my choice down to either Skógafjall or Iðunn. I’m leaning towards Iðunn but I need to make sure I have enough yarn – I ordered 2 sweaters worth when I knit my Stopover but Iðunn is longer and I don’t know if I’ve got enough. I’ll be making a decision first thing tomorrow, I think, so feel free to weigh in on this one. Whichever I choose, I will counting this project as part of the Team Rules Schmules group that Vicki and Terry started as part of the Knitting Olympics.

February is getting to off to a great start, I think. And it’s a short month which means it will be March before we know it – and March brings the first day of SPRING.

  1. Sounds like February will be a great month for you.
I’m planning to rest, relax and rest some more. I sort of forgot to do that in January.

  2. Either of those sweaters are wonderful, Carole. I kind of prefer Skógafjall myself — but I’m partial to pullovers, and I especially veer away from cardigans that only button at the yoke. 😉 You’ve got a great month ahead of you. I always like February — it feels like a turning point to me. Plus chocolate. XO

  3. I love both sweaters, but I am with Kym in preferring Skógafjall as well! And, I am not sure I think Dale is getting the better end of the bargain! But, I am happy it is February too! XO

  4. Fun post today. The first sweater is gorgeous, and the second has has an ovular….ovate? design that’s reminiscent of Stopover, imo.
February vacation, those were the days. Did you hear that Haystack School on Deer Isle is doing a knit fest? That REALLY tempts me! But Freeport ain’t bad.

  5. I join the rules schmules group and I am pondering a bottom up sweater mostly because I have not done one and it scares me a bit and I am trying to do things that are out of my comfort zone. Yikes!

  6. I’ll vote for Skógafjall as well! That’s the one I would have done if I had wanted a Lopi sweater. I LOVE February. The sky changes, the light returns both morning and night, and the days become slightly warmer. Plus, as you noted, February is short and sweet. She’s a good month, a happy month. Rules Schmules was too easy to join. See you there! xo

  7. Well, I obviously need more coffee! I kept reading “SPA” as “SPCA” which put an entirely different spin on the story. 🙂 Good luck with the painting!

  8. Okay, I’ll be the weird one. I would choose Idunn. Cardigans have so much versatility and a much longer wearing season. The Lopi yarn requires something underneath (at least for me, itch itch). Good luck with your decision.

    Happy painting!

  9. I vote for the cardigan as well. More options, but it’s your sweater, so you choose. The light is beginning to return. Hello, February!

  10. Well, I’d knit the cardi just because I like to be able to be able to take a sweater off sometimes. But they are both lovely. And you’ve managed to make February sound almost pleasant.

  11. I’m more inclined to February as well. Sounds like you have some lovely things planned and time with Dale which I know makes you smile. Here’s to February and all the “love”!
