Wednesdays Are For Knitting: Doreen’s Socks

Remember how I knit scarves for Jo-Ann and Rose for Christmas? And remember how I said I wanted them to feel like I was going them a big ole hug every time they wore their scarf? Well. Sometimes hugs come in the form of socks, too.

I knit my OG bestie Doreen a pair of socks for Christmas. And I finally (finally!) saw her last Thursday for the first time since August and I gave them to her.

The yarn is Sophie’s Toes Merino Sock in the color Vintage Kitchen. It’s been in my stash for-ev-er.

The pattern is my basic Picot Edge Socks. I just love that little picot edge so much!

There’s a slip stich heel.

And a rounded toe.

They are the perfect hug for my friend’s feet!

  1. I think giving someone hand-knit socks is an even bigger hug than a scarf — there is nothing as warm and comforting as a pair of knit socks!

  2. I am with Sarah… hand-knit socks are a gift that truly is a wonder! I like that yarn! The colors are so bright and cheery! (and I am glad you saw her again!)

  3. How great was it to see her in person? Pretty great, I bet. Isolation has been one of the hardest things to deal with during this pandemic. I love those socks, and Doreen is a lucky friend.

  4. Perfect in every way! (And someday I’ve gotta try that picot cuff.) (Of course, that would mean actually knitting a pair of socks again. . . ) 😉

  5. I do love your picot top hem and always use it! Do I see that you use a shortened gusset section? Me too.

  6. Those are so cute. I’ve just started knitting socks again after making my last adult pair in 2014 I think. Except for 2018 when I made a pair of baby socks for the new baby and then this year I made another baby pair for the newest baby. Now I have adult socks on the needles and many more planned.
