Time for a look back at what I read in November. It's a short list,…
Tuesdays Are for the Books
I am currently listening to Know My Name by Chanel Miller. (As an aside, did you know you can listen to audiobooks on Spotify if you have a premium account? It’s limited to 15 hours/month but that’s generally enough for me since I only listen in the car and when I’m getting my lashes done.)
Back to Know My Name . . . I am very late to the party on this one and it’s because I had it thoroughly confused with the book Call Me By Your Name. That is, of course, a completely different sort of book and I’m so glad I realized that and started listening to this amazing, gut-wrenching, and powerful memoir of the assault Miller experienced. I’m only at the halfway point and I’m blown away by her story and her words.
You’ve probably already read it. You probably never confused it with a book that was made into an Oscar nominated film. You probably don’t need me to recommend it. But, in case you do, I’m here to say that this one is definitely worth your time and will change the way you think about assault survivors.

Neither book was on my radar so thank you for this!!
I’m amazed by Chanel Miller’s strength in not only telling her story (I read her letter when it went viral, back when she was still anonymous) but then writing such an unbelievably honest book and narrating it herself. It’s a hard book to read but one that I think everyone should read because so often sexual assault isn’t talked about and, for that reason, so rarely prosecuted.
Thanks for the recommendations Carole. Will certainly check these out. (No library pun intended!)
Spotify’s audio is a GREAT benefit for me – I can often find brand new books there that aren’t available on Everand or Hoopla (and of course there’s no wait). My next up listen is The Art of Power – Nancy Pelosi! (who sounds amazing. still!)
Oh, you crack me up. I have heard that Chanel Miller’s book is really good, and it’s been on my tbr list for awhile now. Maybe I’ll pick it up sometime soon and give it a read.
