Ten On Tuesday

I know we just did 10 Things to Bring on a Camping Trip and some might say that this week’s topic, 10 Things To Bring on Vacation, is similar but this is the chance for all those people who didn’t want to go camping to write a vacation list. Here we go:

10 Things To Bring on Vacation

  1. Beach Stuff. I like to vacation at the beach so that means I need a bathing suit and sunscreen and a beach towel and a comfortable chair.
  2. Knitting. I can’t leave the house to go anywhere without my knitting so of course I bring it on vacation.
  3. Spinning Wheel. This is a toss up. I usually bring my wheel and it usually sits in the corner of the living room of the beach house. But I feel better knowing it’s there – just in case I want to spin.
  4. Camera. You have to be able to capture all those great vacation moments!
  5. iPhone. There’s no internet at the beach house we rent so the iPhone is a must. I try not to check my email but I usually can’t help myself.
  6. Dog and Cat. One of the main reasons we love the house we rent is because we get to bring Mason and Dixie. I can’t imagine leaving them for a week!
  7. Games. We really try to keep the TV watching to a minimum so games are a must. A great family game is Apples to Apples.
  8. Kindle. Load it up with books and it’s ready for a week or more.
  9. Booze. Seriously, a martini on the deck after a day at the beach – it doesn’t get better than that.
  10. Yummy Food. We like to eat out some and eat in some so when we do eat in we treat ourselves to things like steamers and lobster, steak, special hors d’oeuvres and other yummy stuff.  No dieting on vacation!

Writing this list has really made me excited about my upcoming vacation. 12 more sleeps!

  1. My list would be exactly the same.

We have always wanted to rent a beach house for a week. It sounds like so much fun. Maybe next year…….

    Have a great time!

  2. That’s a great list. I can’t believe that I forgot to put sunscreen on my list. Ironic since I always forget to put it on.

  3. I’ll admit that I am looking forward to a vacation next year where we will be gone for a week sans all of the pets. It feels a lot less like a vacation if I have to get up and walk Victor three times a day (which is still less than one of my friends who walks her dog up to 5 times a day).

  4. Again, Carole, we’re mostly on the same page — I forgot booze on my list though. So: Meyer’s Rum, tonic, lime, and bourbon for hubster. There.

  5. Sounds like a lot of fun! No matter what we do, I always back a roll of paper towels, ziplock bags, and binoculars. I have not particular reason other than they always come in handy.

  6. My family LOVES Apples to Apples. Our kids are 18, 15 and 11 and everyone can play. My oldest plays it at game nights with her friends every week. No matter how many times you play it, it is always different.

  7. It’s been so long since I’ve been on a vacation it would be difficult to come up with a list. I’ll keep track of all the answers so I’ll be ready if the need arises. xoxo

  8. Fixing dinner at the beach always seems so much more fun than fixing it at home! You inspired my mini break, so thank you! I’ll be thinking of you when I’m at the beach!

  9. Great list! You are going to have a terrific time!

I can’t remember if I’ve already said this or not, but it’s so shifted around down here. Summer is over – one school system started back yesterday and I think another starts later this week. We’re going shopping for school supplies this week. 🙂

  10. Hm. Yeah. It’s been too long since I enjoyed a beach vacation! I’m puttin’ that on my list right now. I know how much you’re looking forward to it, and know that you’ll have a great time!!

  11. Substitute chocolate for booze, the daughter for the pets, actual books for the kindle, and a spindle for the wheel, and I’m packed! I want to go on vacation again, but we went in June this year instead of our usual August. I always enjoy your photos of that coast that faces the wrong direction. Have fun!

  12. Sounds like a perfect list! Hope you enjoy your week. Where do
you go? I will be up there in Sept like I do every year for a couple
of weeks. Bass River. Have a wonderful time!!!!

  13. I can’t believe I forgot the camera and the games on my list! I won’t forget to bring them, I just forgot to list them, mainly because I got to ten first. I don’t have a Kindle, and we leave the cats at home (with a sitter), but apart from that I’m right there with you.
