Weekending

I had a very entertaining and social weekend
It started with Friday lunch with friends Kathy and Susan
Lots of laughter and catching up over a burrito at Whole Foods
Followed by maple butter walnut ice cream at J.P. Licks,
the weather so warm we could sit outside without jackets and enjoy ourselves
Friday evening found us heading to Boston,
First for drinks – bourbon and Dale’s Pale Ale – and then a show
Seats in the front row for Les Miserables
The music, the acting, the scenery,
the entire performance was new and fresh again
I’m so glad we splurged and did it
Saturday was errands and shopping for me,
wallpaper scraping and spackling for Dale,
we are finally tackling the living room re-do
The evening was spent with friends, seeing The Hunger Games,
eating popcorn and Junior Mints
And then Chinese food and drinks
The movie was exciting and true to the book,
I’m already anxious for the next one
Sunday was our Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast
greeting friends, frying and serving eggs, snacking on lots of bacon
and then home
To build a fire to take away the chill that has returned,
to watch old movies and do more spackling
I’m anxious for paint on the walls but the process is slow
Maybe by next weekend
And now the work week begins again

  1. Great weekend Carole! I’m seeing the Hunger Games Wednesday and I cannot wait! Good luck with the living room.

  2. If I had a weekend as busy as your I’d be on the floor for a week trying to recover! You know how to live a happy and full life! Way to go!

  3. I thought I was tired from having daughter and grandchildren here for the weekend but I think I am exhausted just reading all that you did!! Sounds like you had a great weekend and I can’t wait to see Hunger Games!

  4. You have more fun in ONE weekend than I do in FIVE! My older girl went to see Hunger Games last night and came home saying her little sis MAY NEVER see it – too intense. I hope your coming week is as fun as your last weekend, Carole!

  5. Sounds like a great weekend! We saw a show too. We don’t do that very often so it was such a treat. Hoping to catch Hunger Games this week. I heard it was really good.

  6. So much fun packed into one weekend! We are closing in on the finish line on our living room redo thank goodness.

  7. It all sounds wonderful! Well, maybe except for the mess in the living room — but even that’s “all good.” Junior Mints are my favorite movie snack!
    ; )

  8. How exciting to have a fresh, new living room. We remodeled the rest of our house and now the living room looks tacky…not that I’m complaining lol. your weekend sounds amazing!

  9. Wow that sounded wonderfully exhausting…..IM a real lightweight. I don’t seem to have the energy for all those events back to back…>GOOD for you

  10. Have you seen the shawl/scarf ‘Les Miserable’? It’s one that just captivates me so I actually have the yarn and pattern in waiting for when the mood strikes. Perhaps you’d get a kick out of it too. It’s on Rav. It’s irreverent knitting, in that you are basically ruining good yarn- and I do mean good, expensive yarn. Still- I love this one and it’s named perfectly. Loved hearing about your fun weekend!

  11. I forgot to ask you Carole, do you melt your junior mints in the popcorn like Rosie Odonnell did?? Or was it Oprah?? Is it really good b/c it sounds not good..

  12. Hey, I saw Les Miserables at the Boston Opera House this weekend too! I went on Sunday night with my mom and my sisters. 🙂

  13. I am not going to the Hunger Games until I finish reading the books. I read the first one this weekend.

I took a knitting class on Sunday and made a nice cake that I brought to work today.

  14. Sounds like a fantastic weekend! Saw Les Mis years ago and LOVED it. I am just about to start reading the first book in the Hunger Games series. I am excited about your living room; renos and redos are awesome, even with the mess.
