Peanut Butter Bars

Does this photo look familiar? It should because I just used it yesterday. And the thing is, the only reason I used it yesterday is because I didn’t have a photo of ice cream and I figured a photo of dessert was close enough.

Anyway.

The reason I’m using it again today is because yesterday Patty asked about it. Actually, she said “let’s skip the ice cream and just go straight to that.” I think that’s a fine idea but we can’t do that if you don’t have all of the information you need. And so, in the interest of full disclosure, that is a photo of No Bake Peanut Butter Bars that I made for Frank Harlow Day last month. They were, quite simply, a-ma-zing. So good, so easy, and so dangerous for a peanut butter and chocolate lover like me.

And now, you know, I’m just sharing the love with all of you. I’m good like that.

  1. Oh, my! The recipe reminds me of the peanut butter balls my girls used to love to make until they realized that a recipe calling only for butter, peanut butter, and confectioner’s sugar can’t be that good for the waistline! The graham cracker crumbs and chocolate topping elevate these bars to the level of adult food, though, I would say.

  2. I’m all for no bake desserts. Even I could (and would) make that to take to a pot luck. Surely there must be gluten free graham crackers I can use.

  3. Oh dear. Those look evil. And way too easy to make! I just added that to the list of desserts to take to OTHER people’s houses!

  4. I was going to say that you’re a dangerous, dangerous person, but Jill beat me to it. I’m going to have to stop reading you if you keep doing things like this!

  5. And we appreciate your goodness! I was lusting over that picture yesterday. Can’t wait to try these.
    Thanks!

  6. Say it isn’t so. Taking or leaving ice cream? Loving the combination of peanut butter and chocolate? Oh well, different strokes!!!

  7. ha! I managed to close my eyes around all of Tuesday’s ice cream…serves me right you’d feature another dessert on Wednesday! that looks like the perfect peanut butter/chocolate combination…crust and frosting!

  8. I used to make these! My recipe was identical, apart from the addition of peanut butter to the frosting, which I think is an improvement on the recipe I used. I had to stop making them because it was too easy to eat many many bars . . .
