Three Things On Thursday

I’m feeling a little random today and, on top of that, I’ve got about 10 minutes to devote to writing this post and so . . .three things on my mind right now:

daffodil shoots for carole knits

  1. Yesterday I attended an all day conference on Municipal Preparedness and Ensuring a Safe & Secure Workplace. It was very very good – better, even than I thought it might be. The Keynote Speaker was the Police Chief from Watertown and he talked about lessons all municipalities can learn from Watertown’s experience following the Boston Marathon Bombings. He was awesome and his talk was very moving. I especially appreciated hearing it because we were in Mexico when this happened and Dale and I have always felt a bit removed from the entire experience.
  2. I finished all of the knitting for Miss BB on Sunday. I soaked and blocked the pieces and as of last night they are still wet. Hopefully they will be dry by tomorrow so I can get her seamed and photographed so I can wear this sweater before it’s too warm.
  3. There are 6 days until spring and yesterday I saw red-winged blackbirds. Today they are probably freezing their little feathered asses off but still – they are back!

And that’s all I’ve got for today.

  1. Haven’t seen the red-winged blackbirds here yet, but I saw mourning doves yesterday. And really chilly robins a week ago. Spring WILL arrive, eventually. (Are those YOUR daffodils . . . like, now??? I’m going to weep. Because mine are buried under so much snow I may not see them for another month.)

  2. Just seeing the redder cardinals around my feeder. Juncos still here. No gold to the finches. No vegetation whatsoever with a pretty stiff snow cover still in place. Vole heaven, I’m sure.

  3. You wrote a post in 10 minutes and I frittered away my 10 minutes! Our daffodils are just a little farther along than yours and they’ve had a month of sunny days. Spring is fickle, you’ll have plenty of chances to wear your beautiful Miss BB. Can’t wait to see her!

  4. I can only imagine how interesting the Watertown Police Chief would be as a keynote speaker! If he never has to oversee a situation like that again, I’m sure that would be just fine with him.

  5. Don’t sweat finishing the sweater. I have a bad feeling you will have plenty of time to wear it. Those poor birds!

  6. Margene’s comment cracks me up. I’m using my 10 minutes to read a few blogs…knew there would be something new from you!

  7. I don’t know if I can believe it or not but the temperature here seems to be 50F. Unbelievable.
I hope the little green growing flowers are from this spring. And that they don’t freeze their little asses off! 😉

  8. Do you always block before you seam? Sometimes I do, but other times it seems better to sew before blocking.
