Huck’s Maiden Voyage

We took Huck out for his first camping trip last weekend and it was great.

We stayed close to home, only going as far as South Plymouth, to a campground where we have friends who have seasonal sites. It was a smart choice as they were a huge help with setting up and tearing down and everything in between.

We had Friday Night Snacks, of course.

And a campfire each night.

There was a pretty little pond where Dale swam and I sat and read.

And there was plenty of time to hang out and enjoy our new camper.

I know camping isn’t for everyone but for me it’s a time that feels . . . set apart . . . from regular life and I just love it. In fact, we’re already planning our next trip!

  1. I’m so glad your maiden voyage was a success. It does look very peaceful in a way that likely happens best when you’re away from home … someplace pretty!

  2. What a great maiden voyage!! It’s nice that you have such a lovely place close to home, and nice that you have friends to help!

  3. It looks like such fun! I am not a camper, but this doesn’t look much like camping to me — this is like having your own mobile hotel!

  4. Very smart of you to camp close by and even better with friends. Each trip will be a bit easier as you learn more about what you might want to have onboard. We generally camp along the west coast and the weather can change from day to day. Right now we are in Monterey, CA with our rig for Historic Car week. Camping is such a great way to get away from daily life. I hope you both enjoy your new adventure.

  5. I thought about you often over the weekend. So glad you had such a great time. Here’s to many more wonderful adventures with Huck. XO

  6. What a wonderful way to really separate the weekend from your “regular life” and truly get away! I bet Friday Night Snacks even tasted better!

  7. I’m glad you had such a nice weekend and hope you have lots of wonderful adventures with Huck!

  8. I’m glad you had a fun time. My sister had a little teardrop camper and goes with friends or a camping group and occasionally on her own.

  9. Looks like so much fun, and the ultimate in a camping get-a-way. I am so glad you love it
