Three On Thursday

To honor the month of November, my Thursday posts will be all about the things I am thankful for. I want to preface that by saying that I’m not going to be listing the obvious things you’d expect, like Dale and the kids and my family and job and health. Instead, I’m going to be sharing the small things, the every day things, the things that might get overlooked if I didn’t really think about them.

  1. I am thankful for Arlo Guthrie’s Alice’s Restaurant. We listen to it every Thanksgiving and it always makes us laugh and smile and sing along. It’s a tradition that’s important to us and we wondered last night, as we were listening, if any of our kids have actually carried on the tradition. My guess is no but we’re going to ask the and I will report back.
  2. This may sound corny but I am thankful for all of you. I’ve been doing this blog thing for almost 18 years and readers have come and gone. I get far fewer comments now than I did years ago but the ones are get are full of connection and understanding and compassion and love. I am thankful for every one and for the friendships I have forged through writing this thing.
  3. Finally, this poem from Hannah Napier Rosenberg that I saw on Instagram yesterday. So many of my moments of gratitude come from the connections I make with others.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

  1. Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for your blog, enjoy what you share, your honesty and hope for all of us as we muddle through each day trying to be ourselves. And your pie crust recipe!
Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful day!

  2. I’m guessing that every one of your blog readers is as thankful for you as you are for them! I love when Dale changes his profile picture to the Alice’s Restaurant photo, it’s so quintessentially Dale. I really felt that poem, thank you for sharing it. Same, same, same! Hoping you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving, my friend.

  3. Happy Thanksgiving to you! Yours is the first blog I read every morning with my coffee! I am very thankful for my internet friends.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving, Carole! I, too, am thankful for the wonder that is the internet that has enabled me to make new friends near and far. Enjoy your celebration!

  5. Just catching up on my reading today as I recover from yesterday. The last of these is so awesome. Sometimes the only light we need in the dark is to know we’re not alone.

I’m grateful that many days, my friend Carole has already been busy by the time I get up and she’s patiently waiting on my device for me to read some thoughts she’s will to share with us.
