Weekend Glimmers, August 2nd – 4th, 2024

The truth is, I only took one photo all weekend and if you follow me on Instagram then you have already seen it. For the sake of having every post also have a photo, I’ll share it here anyway.

Yes, I picked the first dahlia of 2024 on Sunday. I planted 3 weeks later this year than last year and I’ve picked my first flower almost exactly 3 weeks later, too.

And other than that bright spot, the weekend was . . . meh. I mean, it’s not work so that’s good. But it’s been exceptionally hot and humid and that has sapped every bit of energy I have. Or I’m fighting off something, which is a distinct possibility since I was running a (very) low fever on Friday night and again on Sunday morning. I feel a tiny bit achy but I don’t have a headache or stuffy nose or sore throat. I even took a Covid test to be certain it wasn’t that and it was negative. I just don’t feel 100% like myself, if that makes sense.

Anyway. I don’t mean to complain, I’m mostly just explaining why the weekend recap is so dull. Because that’s a great word for how I feel right now.

Tomorrow will be better!

  1. Meh is a good word to describe things right now. The Air is heavy with humidity and I feel rather sluggish. Your Dahlia is gorgeous and I sure hope you feel better quickly. Take Care.

  2. Oh ugh, I hope you are feeling better and soon! But your dahlia is so lovely! So lovely!

  3. Heat and humidity are my reasons for feeling so sluggish this summer. It’s only supposed to be 95 here today! But your dahlia is beautiful and I hope more buds and flowers are coming.

  4. I hope you kick this thing quickly. The dahlia is lovely…mine are a complete bust this year!

  5. Some days, or weekends, are like that – time when you just feel slow. Your dahlia brightened my morning.

  6. Hopefully, better weather is on the way! We FINALLY have a break from the heat & humidity — maybe a little rain tonight & into tomorrow, but otherwise mid- to upper-70s (instead of 80s) for the next week and I AM HERE FOR IT!!!

  7. I sure hope you’re feeling better, Carole. It’s miserable to be sick(ish) any time . . . but especially on a weekend . . . and in the summer. Sending feel-good juju your way! XO (And that is a gorgeous dahlia!)
