Today I have 3 recent photos of Fred and George to share with you. They…
Lipstick Side Hustle
There’s this thing I’ve been doing for a couple of months now. I’ve alluded to it twice on the blog (here and here if you want to see) and today is the day I’m going full on salesperson on you. I don’t generally think of myself as a salesperson but I did sell Pampered Chef back in the day and my feeling about the products I hustled then is the same as the ones I’m hustling now: I use it every day and I think it’s awesome and I think you will, too.
Here comes the testimonial, which sounds a lot like a sales pitch but isn’t meant to be one. Well, I guess it sort of is because, believe me, if you want to buy this I will for sure sell it to you. Anyway. LipSense is a liquid lip color that’s unlike anything else I’ve ever used. It lasts for hours, and when I say hours I mean all freaking day, without needing to be reapplied. It lasts through coffee in the morning, salad at lunch time, a kiss hello after work, and drinks and dinner. It’s completely different than other long lasting lipsticks in that it’s not drying. There is a gloss that you apply after the color and you can (and should) reapply that gloss throughout the day but that’s completely different than touching up lipstick – as in, you don’t need a mirror to reapply gloss.
There is a range of colors like you can’t even believe, everything from bright red to dark wine, lights pinks and dark pinks, peaches and purples and plums. In that photo collage I am wearing, from left to right starting at the top left and working in a circle: Caramel Apple, Purple Reign, Cranberry, Bella, Mojave and Napa. Believe me when I say there is a perfect color for everyone. Honestly, I think a side hazard of this business is that I’m constantly looking at women not wearing lipstick and thinking about what color I would recommend. When I’m not doing that I’m looking at women who are wearing lipstick and thinking about what color of LipSense would be comparable. For years my mother bugged me about wearing lipstick. She was a woman who put on lipstick no matter what, even if she was staying home all day. I never bothered, though, because I hated reapplying and I just never found a lipstick I loved enough to go through the hassle. Now, though, I’m also a woman who puts it on when staying home all day. It’s just that good.
I know you’re wondering – how much is this stuff? Well, like any quality product, it’s not cheap. A starter collection, which includes one color, one gloss and the remover, is $55. After you take the plunge on the starter collection you can add additional colors for $25 and extra gloss (it’s nice to have one in your purse and your gym bag and your car, etc) for $20. That may seem steep to some people but to me it is worth every penny. For one thing, the tubes are big and last a long, long time. For another, colors can be layered and blended so two or three different colors can give you lots of options to create your own special look. And, you know, I’ve never been one to skimp on personal care and beauty products. I used Clinique for years, only recently switching to Rodan & Fields. I wear quality perfume and use Paul Mitchell Hair products. In other words – I don’t have a problem buying good quality products when it comes to taking care of myself.
So. Thanks for listening to my sales pitch if you’ve read to the end. If you’re intrigued and want to know more just leave me a comment and I’ll tell you everything you want to know and then some. If you’re not, I hope you’ll wish me well on this endeavor anyway and maybe tell a friend or two about this crazy blogger who sells lipstick. Finally, if you’ve tried it and love it so much you want to join my team, I’d love to have you sign up to sell it, too.
Mwah.
P.S. The website is SeneGence and you can order directly from them using my distributor ID number which is 251974. If you do that, though, you can only purchase colors that they have in stock. You can also order directly from me and choose from the colors I have available. If you do that you can pay me with paypal or a check and I will ship the products directly to you.

I’m so excited to get my order (today?!?) and try it out – you and Kym convinced me (not that I’m a hard sell…like you, I don’t mind spending money to take care of myself ;-))
My mom was the same. She always said to me put color on your lips! I too never did but now never go a day without it.
I am an au natural gal because that’s who I am, and there were many years of required business suits and makeup. But I can certainly admire a woman who knows what she likes and what she wants to look like. Wishing you a fun and successful venture. Now, what color goes with a foot of snow?
Hi – I’m interested. If I get a color that I end up not liking, can it be exchanged?
As someone who has skimped on beauty products for years and use Burt’s Bees on her lips, this is an interesting read. I picture myself looking clownish with any real color on my lips, but you’ve certainly got me thinking. I may need your recommendation for my perfect color!
I’m still considering too. I’m vacationing next week so I’ll be in touch the end of the month!
Oh I am definitely interested! I love lipstick but hate that it disappears so quickly – so please, fill me in on things!
Well… you know how much I love that you are doing this! Haha! And, I would have LOVED to have you be my Pampered Chef Guru! XOXO
Hi Carole,
Long time reader and first time commenting!
I’ve heard about this product and have watched a few youtube testamonials. I’d be interested in purchasing a starter kit + one extra color, if you’re willing to ship to Alaska. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.
I am so bad–put it on and don’t think about it again until next morning. Definitely plan to checkout the web site.
Carole, I am also a no lipstick girl, but it’s not from lack of trying. I have deeply pigmented lips, and I don’t feel comfortable in dark colors, and I don’t look good in colors that are lighter than my lips. I don’t wear lipstick anymore because: a) it wears off and looks worse than no lipstick when it does, b) I am not interested in touching it up every few hours, c) it dries out my lips terribly, d) and I have spent a ton of money over the years trying to find a MLBB shade without success, so I gave up. Having said all that, the Napa color has me intrigued if it solves the above problems. I don’t wear much makeup, but I would wear lipstick if I could find one that works for me. Recommend away!
I keep meaning to ask you about colors. I like Bella. Just wondering if it goes well with my coloring? I’ll PM you.
Hi Carole,
Please sign me up! Will you be able to help me choose a color or 2?
I love reading your blog!
Thank you, Agnes
Well. You know how I feel about all this . . . XOXO
Every color looks fantastic on you!
Very tempting, I know I look better with lip color on, but often forget to re-apply.
Hi Carole!
All the colors look good on you! I’d love some help picking out a color. And does the matte gloss come with the kit? I’m not a glossy girl.
Thanks!
